2. Juni

June 2.
Vitoria we didn´t expect nothing from that town, but there was a spectacular Harbour entrance

real nice people in a good mood only one uncomfortable situation with a taxidriver who wantd to much money (he thought we were sailors). We took another cab.

Unfortunately we fellt like analphabets when tried to use the ATM´s untill we found with help an english answering machine.

Nice was the visit in the streetrestaurant with a One-man-band and affordable beer.

june 9: it¨s winter, everything looks european hektic, I?m looking curious  foreward.

06. Juli

July 06.
Some of you wished a map so here it is. The red line is the route till now in SA. The cross on the end is the Bonito-area (exactly Jardim) wellknown beside nice landscape for crystalclear water, good snorkeling inmidst of Piranias and a lot of other fishes. For me without snorkelstuff and neoprensuit it was only to swim, but this balneareo is a very rustic funplace with ropes from high trees to swing into the water and so on.

In this days they bring their cowherds via mainroad to the slaughterhouses or so. Twice I had the pleasure to pass through hundreds of cows. But there´s a lot of wildlife too, Nandus and I even saw a couple of Araras and a lot of roadkills.
Now I´m relaxing on that tiny little campground with the balneareo (see above).

june 12.
hi friends,
since a few days in BA sorting the impressions walking by feet through the city,
the atmosphere is hectic like in middle europe (surprisingly), the people very friendly and helpfully, the prices like in former days in eastern europe.

13. juni

hi friends,
on the road again, thrugh the pampas – swamp and stock - heading north. Now nearly 400 km away from BA

June 16.
Relaxing in wintertime with temperatures in the 60ies sitting on the banks of the Uruquayriver enjoining the quietness to be the only guest on a real nice well maintained campground, with hot showers in the nationalpark “El Palmar”.
There is one 800 years old palmtree I´m hoping to find it. I´ll lrt you know next time.

20. Juni

June 20.
I´couldn´t find the old palmtree they told there are a lot of them. Since I passed Concordia I saw only evergreen trees, so I think I´m in tropic areas now, it´s warm enough. Concordia isn´t really a highlite, but Corriente is pretty nice.

Tomorrow I will have a look into the ruins of the missions they gave the ame to the region.
And an other bird

June 22.
A dream……..
The birds are singing, a ship sails down the Parana, sun is shining on the sandbeach.
Seeking another place I found the “Club Rio” in San Ignacio I intend to stay here the next days (2,25 $ a night including electricity). It was the first time I used the four wheel-drive just in case.

23. Juni

June 23.
The day starts with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. I see the ruins of San Ignacio Mini in dry condition except the last 500 m than I became really wet.
250 km later in the glossing sun: the falls from Iguazu. Pretty dry in this days they make the same now in Brazil like in Niagara they use the water to produce electricity. But it´s still amazing.

Ansonsten ganz wunderbar.

July 03.

The promised pic from the huge Cathedral in Maringa see above, the travelers guide says it´s the 10 th greatest building in tje world. The cross on the top is 15 m high.

Meanwhile I arrived Campo Grande after 5 days relaxing in Thermas of Epitacio. Unfortunately Brasilia lost the soccergame against France, so they guys there went there sympathy to Portugal and Germany, this is rhe reason why I had to fight against freebeer (saving my lever).

After crossing the 12 km bridge over the Paranariver I´m now in Mato Grosso do Sul where the dieselfuel cost 5 cents more and the ants live together with the cows.

 July 10.
Arrived Bonito yesterday, it´s really nice. The Benz runs good on the dirttracks, nice tires and a good coice of the airpressure.

Walked through the forest today, the water is amazing clear, the Piranias are nightactiv and not dangerous, so I didn´t see some of them.

It´s hard to fotograph animals, the stupid waterpigs moving allways, the monkeys went into the shade and the Birds flying away.

But they have here miny but miney flys, they are biting, I didn´t see till now moskitos.

Geological is the region here very similar to the “fränkische Schweiz” were I live, with caverns, dolines and all this stuff. So I´m not in the mood to pay alone a guide to see this caverns. So I´m living tomorrow heading to Mirinda.

 July 19.
Sice the 17th the time to travel by myself is over. I picked up Dorothea and our friends Joe and Jutta at the airport of Campo Grande. Now I join the traveling with company.

In Aquidauana we found a guide and boat for our fishing friends, wich they join now. I´m curious about our diner tonight.

July 23.
Since 3 nights we are in the Pantanal. J and J had two guided tours for fishing on the Rio Aquidauana and the Rio Miranda and they saw a lot of animals. Dorothea an d I used the time for a professionel guided nightsafari, a daylight safari and a boatstrip, and saw on this way a huge amount of animals.

We boked this in the Facienda San Francisco where we also camped for two days and could use the facilities there like showers and pool.

Today we headed via the Pantanalparkroad to Corumba. After a lot of Watercrossings up to 2 2 feet deep we arrived Porto da Manga, wher we had to turn around cause of the highwater the ferryboat doesn´t worked. Now we are going back the 120 km to BR mainroad to Corumba.

25. Juli

All inclusive 1350 Reais für 4 Personen.

July 25.
On a few more floated roads we tried to come back on the parkroad and finally slept there with a nice overview over Pantanal, after seeing two swimming Aunteaters.

Today we arrived Corumba, for washing roaps, shoping and most important booking a thre days boatstrip for fishing and sightseeing the Pantanal on an old vessel called “Rio Mare”
